Mae North's Death Deeply Mourned By Many Friends
The passing of Miss Mae North, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F.W. North of this city, at Wells, British Columbia, on Wednesday, Novermber 17th, came as a great shock and a deep grief to her very many friends. Mis North, who had been engaged in dressmaking in the Cariboo town, took ill a little over four months ago with rheumatic faver. Despite tender nursing, and the consultations of physicians, she was unable to overcome the malady, the cause of death being bacterial endocarditis (bacterial infection of the valves of the heart).
The late Miss North was born near Calgary twenty-four years ago. She came to Armstrong with the family when she was just six years old, and received her education in the Armstrong elementary and high schools, and she also attended the University of British Columbia. Possessed of a very fine and sensitive nature, she was beloved to all, but especially to her famiy, to whom at this time, and it is the first break in their family, a wide circle of friends extend a deep and sincere sympathy.
She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F.W. North; one sister, Mrs. R.J. Howard, New Westminster; and six brothers; Kenneth of Vancouver, George of Ladner, Lionel of Chilliwarck, Eric and Bob of Wells, and Harold of Armstrong. All the brothers were home for the funeral, as well as Mrs. Eric North and Mrs. Jas. Brennan of Wells.
The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, from Zion United Church, with Rev. G.G. Boothroyd officiating, and was largely attended.
The pallbearers were: Messrs. Raymond Bawtinheimer, Wilmer Aslin, Bert. Fletcher, David Blackburn, Frank Harrison and Henry Harrison. Interment took place in Armstrong Cemetery.
