Paul Bayer Fatally Hurt When Motor On Baler Starts Up
Paul Bayer of Avon, brother of Mrs. Fred Reikert of Edlestein and Mrs. Frank Streitmatter of Wyoming, was fatally injured late Wednesday afternoon when the motor on a baler he was repairing started up. His wife is the former Nadine Cutler of Princeville.
The accident occurred about 3 p.m. on the Bayer farm west of St. Augustine on Rt. 116. Bayer was taken to Saunders hospital in Avon and died about 15 minutes after arrival. His injuries were reported to as a fractured skull and scalp wounds.
Services will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. DST in Stark Congregational church with burial in Evergreen Memorial Gardens south of Kewanee. Visitation will be between 7 and 9 tonight and Friday in the Brand Funeral home in Avon and in the church for two hours preceding the services.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Bernard Day of Albuquerque, N. M.; two sons John of Lewistown and Don of Peoria; and two sisters Mrs. Frank Streitmatter of Wyoming and Mrs. Frank Reikert of Edelstein
