Son of Asahel Mann and Elizabeth Greenlee. Husband of Drucilla Ann Williamson
Archibald Mann was born in Monroe County, Virginia (now West Virginia) in 1828, and the third child in the family of ten children born to Asahel and Elizabeth (Greenlee) Mann, both of whom were natives of Virginia. The family moved from Virginia to Lawrence County, Ohio, and two years later to Wapello County, Iowa, and then to Fremont County, Iowa.
Archibald was educated at Asbury University at Greencastle, Indiana, and taught school for a few terms.
He was married December 8, 1855 to Druscilla Williamson. After marriage they settled on their present farm of one hundred and sixty acres, bought of the government for one dollar and a quarter an acre. They have had nine children, Alonzo G., Henry, Mary E., John B. Nellie, Asahel, Louisa, and Warren.
Three of his brothers were soldiers in the 4th Iowa Cavalry.
In political opinions he was a Republican, and in religion, a Methodist.
