Benjamin Howard Boone, the son of James Boone and Mary Polly Allen, was born in Missouri.
According to B. H. Boone's Pension Record he had lived in Cooke County, Texas, since 1862.
Benjamin Boone served in the Cavalry with Bourland's Regiment, Company K, Montague County, Texas, in 1863 and 1864 during the Civil War. He was honorably discharged at Gainesville, Texas in 1865.
He returned to Missouri where he married Susan Keyes on January 1, 1867. They relocated to Texas in 1868. Benjamin and Susan Boone had several children. They are enumerated on the 1870 census for Precinct 1, McKinney, Collin, Texas, with son James, age 2 and John, age 4 months.
The Boone's moved to Cooke County, Texas where they are enumerated on the 1880 census with sons James, age 12, son John, age 10, and a baby (Annie) 2 months old. Also in the household was John Boone, age 36, the brother of Benjamin along with their father, James, age 80.
A fourth child, Benjamin Howard Boone, Jr. was buried in the Fairview Cemetery at Gainesville, Texas on September 17, 1899.
After the death of their son, James W. Boone, age 21, in 1897, Benjamin and Susan were involved with the care of his minor children Robert Howard and Grace Boone who were their grandchildren. Two other grandchildren, Claude and Wesley Boone are mentioned in Susan's will.
Benjamin Boone, a long time resident of Gainesville, Cooke County, Texas, was a carpenter and a law officer. He was granted a pension for his service in the CSA on December 1, 1912.
Benjamin died at the age of 79, on December 29, 1925 and was buried in the Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville with his wife Susan and other family members.
