A newspaper clipping entitled HOME NEWS, Southampton, reported, "In addition to what has already been said of the late Edwin J. Coe, a further word will be appreciated by his many friends in this and adjoining towns. He was a man of many excellant traits and was highly regarded by all his neighbors and friends. There was a large attendance at the funeral services, conducted by Rev. B. F. Eaton, and the bearers were one brother and three brothers-in-law, as follows:--Luther Coe, Delizon S. Bush, Wallace Jones, and Edwin Gibbons. Mr. Coe was 37 years old and death was due to heart failure, following an illness of several months, although he had been confined to the bed only about two weeks."
