Mrs. Avery Avis
Mrs. Sophia B. Brack Avis was born in Boboshnaia, Russia, April 18, 1876 and died in Kansas City, Monday evening at the Grace Hospital at 6:50 o'lcock, after an illness of about one and a half years at the age of 45 years, 10 months and 9 days.
She leaves to mourn her death her husband, Mr. Avery Avis, her mother, Mrs. Philip Brack, three children, Mrs. Jess Hergert, Miss Helen Avis and Leslie Avis, one son-in-law Jess Hergert, one brother, Mr. John E. Brack and many other relatives and a host of friends.
The remains were brought to Otis, Wednesday morning and funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. E. Eulert at the Lutheran Church, Sunday afternoon, March 5th.
The devoted husband did everything in his power to help her regain her health and strength, and it was her naturally strong constitution that kept her alive so long.
She was a faithful wife, a loving mother, a devout Christian, who not only professed her Christianity, but also proved it in word and deed. In true faith she accepted her suffering as a cross sent her by her Heavenly Father, therefore she bore it without a murmer. Interment was made in the Otis Cemetery on Sunday afternoon, March 5, 1922.
