Elizabeth Jane Chubb was born September 29, 1839 in Whitchurch, Devon, England. She was the daughter of Joseph and Maria Chubb. She married John Jury (born abt 1841 in Buckland Monachorum, Devon England) on January 1, 1860 in Tavistock, Devon, England. John was a copper miner. Elizabeth and John had two children born in England: E.J. (1862) and Walter (1866). They immigrated to the United States about 1869 and made residence in Blooming Grove, Orange County, New York. John recrds his occupation: Iron Miner. In New York, two children were born, Annie Marie 1870 and Emily 1873. John Jury died sometime before 1874 and Elizabeth married Ralph Dawson. Emily and Ralph made their home in Sewickley Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania where they had at least 3 more children: Joseph Dawson (1876-1961), Charles Dawson (1878- ), and Judson Dawson (1880-1935). Elizabeth, husband Ralph and several of their children are buried at New Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
