OBITUARY - Plain Dealer, Wabash (IN)

Terry Dee Agness, 65, 660 Lem's Way, died at 11:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at Wabash County Hospital.

He was born on Feb. 10, 1939, in Peru, to Herman and Gwenivere (Mishler) Agness. He married Carol Carlson on Aug. 30, 1963, in Kankakee, Ill. She survives.

Mr. Agness graduated from Sweetser High School in 1957, and received a bachelor's degree in agricultural engineering from Purdue University in 1962. He retired in 2001 after 36 years at The Ford Meter Box Company, where he was a past president and current chairman of the board. He led Ford Meter Box to the largest acquisition in its history, the purchase of the Uni-Flange Company in 1994.

He was a member of The Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Wabash Kiwanis Club, and was a life member of the Honeywell Foundation board of directors. He also was a member of the board of directors of Frances Slocum Bank and a former member of the Falls Cemetery and Parkview Health Systems boards of directors. He also served in the Indiana National Guard and enjoyed family, fishing and sports cars.

Also surviving are a son, Lance (Shelley) Agness, Wabash; a daughter, Lana (Brent) Barnhisel, Danville; a sister, Janice (Don) Fern, Peru; a brother, Kent (Carolyn) Agness, Indianapolis; two granddaughters, Alicia Agness, Wabash, and Erica Barnhisel, Danville; and a grandson, Ethan Agness, Wabash.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at The Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. The Rev. Don Mitchell will officiate. #Burial will be in Falls Cemetery. Friends may call at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Avenue Chapel from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Preferred memorials are to the Great Commission Fund at The Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.
