Billie Jo was the most beautiful bald baby at two years of age, according to her aunt. The little blonde curl on top of her head, placed there by a loving mother was all the hair she had until she was about three years. Soon after her birth, her father went into the Navy for the duration of the war. During that time she enjoyed life with Grandparents in Oklahoma. After the war, the family went to New Mexico to live. In 1957 Billie Jo married James Robert Fitch. Their union produced five children. Her second marriage in 1975 to Theron Eugene Huggins produced one child.
In the 1980's, Billie tolerated a twelve hour brain surgery. The surgery was a success, but it left a few handicaps. Inspite of all the challenges, Billie was able to continue most of her life unbowed. When the second marriage was dissolved, Billie removed to Texas, to be near her parents who had retired and living in Nocona.
The ability for fine handwork was handed down by both her father and her mother. Of all her skills, the outstanding feature was her ultimate patience with handwork. The word "perfection" is used with accuracy in describing her crafts. Many beautiful items are left with friends and family who cherish the delicacy of crafts, which became part of her legend.
Billie lost her father and her mother within a year's time. Losing her support system tore into her life and a year later she was gone. The grave marker pre-chosen by Billie Jo says it all. It is beside her parents, with all her children's names included on the stone. All together! RIP Billie
