Russell J. Alleman, 95, died in Great Falls, Mont. Russ was born to John and Harriet Alleman in Milwaukee, Wis. He earned his bachelor's degree at the University of Wisconsin and his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Chicago-Rush Medical. He did three years of internship and residency at Milwaukee County Hospital.
In 1945, he entered the U.S. Army Medical Corp. After serving in Europe, he was discharged as a major. In November 1945, he married Constance Cranmer. When he was discharged, they moved to Battle Creek, Mich., where daughter, Cortne, was born in 1946. In 1947, he moved his family to Portland to start his medical practice at the Broadway Medical Clinic. His son, Brad, was born in Portland in 1949.
He retired from the clinic in 1987 and moved to Sun City West, Ariz. In January 2010, he moved into the Rainbow Retirement Home in Great Falls, Mont. While in Portland, Russ was a member of the Columbia River Yacht Club and was a Past Commodore in 1966. He enjoyed deep sea fishing and golf, and was a member of the Elks in Oregon and Arizona. While in Arizona, he was able to go to the local pool and swim laps every day.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Constance, in March 1998. He is survived by daughter, Cortne Stricker (Frank) of Ocean Park Wash.; son, Brad, of Portland; special granddaughter and caregiver, Nanette Parrett (Aaron) of Great Falls, Mont.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
There will be so service, but interment will be at Riverview Cemetery in Portland sometime in August 2011.
