Dorothy Elizabeth Siebke was born Sept. 15, 1921, the daughter of Albert and Elfrieda (Broders) Siebke, in Stockton, Iowa. She attended Stockton Country School until the eighth grade. Dorothy married Delmar Bachus in Davenport on her birthday, Sept. 15, 1945. She was a homemaker and a mother. She and Delmar had four children, Beverly, Tamara, Duane and Gary. Dorothy and her family lived on two farms in rural Bennett before moving into the city of Bennett in 1986.

Dorothy attended Peace Church in Bennett. She was a member of the Bennett Lions Club and Stockton Royal Neighbors. She enjoyed playing bingo, puzzles, cards and watching the Cubs and Bears. She was a wonderful baker and cook. Dorothy was known for her baked spaghetti and meatballs, Christmas fritters (with raisins and without raisins) and duck with sweet dressing. Christmas was when she would bake dozens upon dozens of cut-out butter cookies, which were all meticulously and creatively decorated to holiday perfection. She loved gardening, her chickens and cracked walnuts. Dorothy faithfully attended all of her children's and grandchildren's activities; she was steadfast and loyal to those she loved.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Beverly (Micheal) Horstmann of Bennett, and Tamara (Melvin) Vavricek of Center Point, Iowa; sons, Duane (Linda) Bachus of Durant, Iowa, and Gary (Becky) Bachus of Madison, Wis.; sister, Gloria Fox of Stockton; sisters-in-law, Ruth Siebke and Dorothy Siebke; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delmar; brothers, Eugene Siebke and Wilbert Siebke; grandson, Mark Horstmann; stepfather, Victor Krebs; and brother-in-law, Don Fox.
