MANILLA MAN TAKES OWN LIFE
Wade Aldrich, 72, Found Dead at Home

Wade Aldrich, 72, was found dead in a garage at his home in Manilla about 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Rush County Coroner Dr. Robert B. Johnson attributed death to self inflicted gunshot wounds from a .22 calibre rifle and estimated death occurred about 1 p.m.

Born in Shelby county June 21, 1883, Mr. Aldrich was the son of Sylvester and Anna (Bennett) Aldrich. On November 19, 1908, he was married to Emma Hart and she preceded in death in 1937.

Surviving are four children, Clethie Aldrich of Manilla, Walter of North Vernon, CPO Ervin S. Aldrich, serving with the U.S. Navy in San Francisco, California, and Mrs. Lola Smith of near Fountaintown; a brother, James Aldrich of Danville, Illinois and a granddaughter, Marilyn Smith, of near Fountaintown.

Mr. Aldrich was a member of the Bengal Christian Church and had been a resident of the Manilla community since 1930.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Carmony Funeral Home in Manilla with Rev. R.H. Schanbeimayer officiating. Burial will be in the Bennett cemetery near Rays Crossing. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Tuesday and are asked to omit flowers.
