Keith LaMont Miner, age 75 died March 9, 2006 at his home in Provo, following a long battle with cancer.
He was born November 21, 1930 in Fairview, Utah, the first of six sons and 1 daughter born to James Parker and Mary Margaret Terry Miner.
Keith was raised on the family farm in Fairview, and attended school in Fairview and Mt. Pleasant. In 1951, he was drafted into the armed forces and volunteering for the Marine Corps, and served as a forward observer in Korea during the Korean Conflict.
Keith met his sweetheart, Orva Gardner in 1953, and they were married on May 22, 1954 in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on May 22, 1964.
Keith worked at the Tooele Army Depot, and a few other places before being hired on with the Provo City Police Dept., where he worked as a "plain clothes detective" in the Criminal Investigation Division. After retiring, he drove charter buses, pilot cars, transported helicopters for Rocky Mountain Helicopter, and enjoyed traveling with his wife.
Keith and Orva have lived in Provo for almost 50 years. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and has served in several positions, most recently as a Temple Worker in the Provo Temple.
He is survived by his wife Orva; by his three daughters, Lynda (Ed) Walters of Provo; Cheryl (Harold) Rasmussen of Pleasant Grove; and Mary (Paul) Fonseca e Silva of Covington, WA; 13 grandchildren; three brothers and one sister, Don Miner of Fairview; Marilyn (Melvin) Lund of Mapleton; Gary (Dawn) Miner of St. George, UT; Marvin (Sue) Miner of Golden, Co; two sisters-in-law, Connie Miner and Janice Miner, both of Fairview.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Orson, and by a sister-in-law, Carol Miner.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 13, 2006 at 11:00 a.m., at the Provost LDS Chapel, 715 South Utah Ave., Provo.
Friends may call Sunday evening, at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, from 6-8 p.m., or Monday morning, at the Ward Chapel, one hour prior to services.
Interment, Fairview City Cemetery, 3:00 p.m. Monday.
