Obituary: Parker J. Miner. Miner was born August 17, 1904, Fairview to Orsen A. and Nancy Brady Miner,Sr. Married Mae Terry November 27, 1928, Manti LDS Temple. Was a farmer,Fairview City Marshall, Sanpete County Deputy Sheriff, Sanpete County Sheriff, Sanpete County Deputy Assessor, Fairview City Councilman, former Lions Club president and former custodian of Fairview south LDS Ward.
Survivors: wife Mae of Fairview; six sons, one daughter: Keith, Gary both of Provo: Charles, Spanish Fork: Don,Salt Lake City: Orson, Fairview: Marvin, Price; Mrs Melvin (Marilyn) Lund, Mapleton, 28 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters: Mrs. Jess (Izzetta) Black, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Rulon (Floral) Rasmussen, Monroe: Mrs.Ellis (Becky) Bird, Springville; Vern Miner, Provo; Vanoi Miner, San Bernardino, Calif.
Dedication of the grave in Fairview City Cemetery was by Hal Anderson. Ursenbach Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Services were held in Fairview Saturday, May 6, 1978 for Parker James Miner, 73, who died in Gunnison Valley Hospital on May 3, 1978. Bishop Sherrill Anderson conducted with prayers by Pres. Rulon Rasmussen and John Burnside. Family prayer was by Merrill Terry. Speakers were Bp.Henry Wheeler, Pres. Leon Nielsen and Bp. Anderson with Allen Miner, a grandson, giving a tribute. An organ medley was played by Virginia Mower, who also played prelude and postlude music and accompanied the ward choir under the direction of Florine Nielsen. A vocal solo was by Fern Christiansen of Moroni, accompanied by Coleen Morley. The choir sang the hymn "Oh My Father"
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were grandsons: Jerry Miner, Kent Miner, Bert Miner, Bruce Miner, Craig Lund, Bill Lund. Boyd Miner, Allen Miner, Terry B. Miner.
After many years of problems with his heart, Parker suffered a massive heart attack. He was in the Gunnison Valley Hospital for 18 days before he died. Although being in a lot of pain, he never complained, but instead fought a good fight, until he fell into a coma for several hours before he died. His wife and many family members kept a constant vigil at his bedside. His son Don was at his bed side when he briefly opened his eyes, greeted Don with "Hi Don, how are you?", immediatly took his last breath and died. Time of death was 7:25p.m. on May 3, 1978. Park was 73 years old.
