David Preston Hopewell, 90, of the White Rock/Kingston communities, died in Presbyterian Hospital in Greenville on October 8, 2007. Graveside services were on Thursday, October 11, 2007, at 10:30 A.M. at Celeste Cemetery under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev.Bob Layman officiating. Burial in Celeste Cemetery.

Mr Hopewell was born on the family farm in Hunt County, Texas on March 8, 1917, the son of William Franklin Hopewell and Irene Webster Hopewell, and lived on the farm his entire life. He was a farmer, a Baptist and a member of the IOOF Lodge for 45 years.

He is survived by his nephews, Robert E. Hopewell and his wife Pat, James Preston Hopewell, and W. F. (Buddy) Hopewell and his wife Linda; his nieces, Shirley Fanning and her husband Jack and Marilyn E. Hopewell. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Edwin Hopewell, Wilbur Travis Hopewell and Wade Franklin Hopewell; and sisters, Irene Patterson, Coralie Cotton and Kathleen Hopewell.
