A PIONEER GONE
THOS. ALLENDER OF EMBARRASS PASSED AWAY ON SUNDAY NIGHT.

It was with profound regret that the citizens of this locality learned of the death of Thomas Allender, which occurred at his home in Embarrass, Sunday night. The deceased was one of the early pioneers of this section of Wisconsin and a man who commanded the highest respect and esteem of a wide circle of friends.

Thomas Allender was born in Belmont Co., Ohio, in 1829, moved with his parents to Milwaukee in 1837, and subsequently, in 1849 moved to Embarrass which until his death remained his home. He was married at Oshkosh in 1855 to Miss Orcelia Howland, who in 1887 passed from this life. He was a veteran of the Civil War having enlisted as a member of the Wisconsin Heavy Artillery Co. K, in 1864.

Mr. Allender was the father of seven children, one of whom, a daughter, preceded him in death. Though sick for about six months his death came suddenly and peaceably on Sunday evening the 31st ult, he having reached an age of 74 years.
