Mrs. Mille (Bill) Horn died on Febr. 19, 1954 at Frederic Hospital on her 76th birthday. Mary Amelia Baker was born on Febr. 19, 1878 in Ball, Prussia (now Germany), the daughter of William Baker and Wilhelmina Tornow. In 1882 the family emigrated to the United States, settling in Harrison Co., IA.

At the turn of the century she married William D. Horn, in Woodbine, IA. Mr. Horn was the step-brother to Millie's brother-in-law, Mr. Al Waite, the husband of her sister Lizi. The Horns made their home in Iowa, Missouri and Nebraska, eventually settling in Danbury, WI. Mr. Horn preceded his wife in death in 1945. She was survived by her children Fred, Ralph, Edith, and Mae Fern Wierschem.

Notes: She was a slight woman her whole life. When they boarded the ship "Americana" Mrs. Baker was afraid that they would not take her five-year-old daughter Millie, because she was ill. So her mother wrapped her up in a blanket as an infant and carried her in her arms on board. The sea air was healing and Millie recovered in a few days.
