Ardmore — Robert "Robbie" Neal Armstrong was born on August 16, 1953, to Imogene Thomas Armstrong and Ralph Andrew Armstrong. Robbie passed from this life at Ardmore, Okla., on March 14, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Services will be held Thursday, March 17, 2011, at 2 p.m. in Griffin-Hillcrest Chapel with Pastor Steve Skinner officiating. Services will conclude in the chapel. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore.
Robbie graduated from Healdton High School in 1972. He started out in Healdton, working in the heat and air business and later started his own business, Tempco Supply, in Ardmore and Durant.
Robbie was a very talented musician who displayed an individual style on the guitar. He played in several bands including Taleah Haven, Legend, US 199, 3 Bob Nite and Strongwood. Robbie enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing music and spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Robbie is survived by his sister, Phyllis Kilpatrick of Ardmore; his brother, Alan Armstrong of Marietta; two nieces, Sherri Howell and Kathy Burris, also of Ardmore. Robbie enjoyed spending time with his great-nieces and nephews, Desirae, Haven and Devin Howell, and Daniel Burris, all of Ardmore; and special friend, Cora "Cookie" Shrouder of Ardmore. In addition to other family, Robbie is survived by a large host of friends.
Robbie will best be remembered by his friendly and loving nature, his bright smile, his love of music, his remarkable ability and his magnetic personality.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. this evening at Griffin-Hillcrest Funeral Home, Ardmore.
