Birth: 1750
Lancaster County
Pennsylvania, USA
Death: Oct., 1833
Greene County
Ohio, USA

Mathias Crow/Gray was the son of Mathias Groh and Anna Grove of Lancaster Co. Pa. Bethel Twp. (Now Lebanon Co. Pa)
He was raised on a farm near Fredericksburg, PA. He migrated to Franklin Co., PA. Part of his farm was in Washington Co. MD as well. Most of their children were born on this farm that straddled the Mason-Dixon Line.

The family sold out in 1797/98 and migrated to Hamilton Co., Ohio and located in Sycamore Twp. near the Cooper, Plainfield Road intersection in current Blue Ash. A deed found in Franklin Co., PA lists a power of attorney given by Mathias(whose last name appears as Crow)to "his brother Michael Groh of Dauphin Co.PA. Lebanon Co. was part of Dauphin at this time. In 1808, Mathias migrated one more time to SW quarter of Section 8, Town 3, Range 7 of the Symmes Purchase. This is in Beavercreek Twp., Greene Co. Oh. The property lies along the west side of Hilltop Road just north of crossing Ludlow Creek.

Mathias lived until the fall of 1833 when his will was proven in Greene Co. Ohio under both names Mathias Crow and Gray. The Chancery Court case found in the Greene Co. records lays out his entire family and grandchildren of deceased children. Mathias had worded his will just like his father. No child will obtain anything until my youngest has reached age of maturity. His living children and grandchildren of his deceased children are all accounted for in the estate case.

The family cemetery has not survived to this date. It did however still exist during the 1930's when the WPA did a cemetery search for Greene Co. The record, located in the Greene Co. Recorder's office shows the cemetery(now in the Greene Co.Archives). It is listed as the Andrew's cemetery. Andrews was a subsequent owner of the property. A diagram shows two rows of graves. One row of two and a second row of five graves. No stones were recorded but sunken graves were noted. The book states the cemetery is 1 mile north of the old Trebein Rd (Harlow Lane)Hilltop Rd. intersection. Twenty feet to the right of the road. This appears to be farmed today.

Robinson's History of Greene Co. lists the names of Mathias Crow, Henry Crow, Abraham Crow and Jane Crow and states they were buried on Samuel Andrew's farm.
