Henry H Christensen was born in Cass County, Iowa on 10 January, 1912 the seventh of thirteen children of John and Johanna Nelson Christensen. He grew up in Cass County where he attended rural schools. After his formal schooling he worked on the family farm.
On 9 June, 1932, he married Pauline Masching in a double ring wadding with his sister, Jennie, who married Reggie Sykes. Hank and Pauline lived in Brayton for several years and worked on various farms. In 1942 they moved to rural Anita where they farmed until moving to Anita in 1972. Pauline preceded him in death on 9 September, 1999. After moving to town he had enjoyed making crafts and many other items from wood, and fishing with his brothers, Lars and Stub. He enjoyed playing and watching his grandchildren and Great grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons Tom and wife Joanne of Anita, and Roger and wife Carole of Anita; eight grandchildren, Cheri Miller and husband James of West Des Moines, Kent Christensen of Ottumwa, Charl Claussen and husband David of Anita, Camma Stott and husband Barry of West Des Moines, Chad Christensen and wife Nicole of Ames, Jerod Christensen of Ames, Melissa Christensen of Shelby and Nicole Christensen of Anita; Eight great grandchildren, Jeffery Miller, Cecilia and Michael Miller, Ethan, Erin, and Emily Claussen, and Connor and Hartley Christensen; one brother , Norman "Stub" Christensen and Lorraine of Ruthven; two sisters-in-law, Bette Kinzie of Anita, and Lena Mae Metheny and husband Bill of Anita; nieces and nephews
Receding him in death were his parents; his wife, Pauline; eleven brothers and sisters, Lars, Hans,
Egidia, Jennie, Lillie, Marie, two brothers both named Elton, and two brothers both named Ellsworth, and Leland.
Services were held at Anita United Methodist Church, Anita, Cass County, Iowa at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, 27 July, 2002. Officiant was Rev. Henry H. Christensen 90, Anita, died Thursday, July 25, 2002 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be at the Anita United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Anita. Visitation will be afternoon on Friday at Mullen Funeral Home in Anita where the family will be present from 7 to 8 P. M.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Christensen and Roger Christensen, both of Anita. Mullen Funeral Home in Anita is in charge of the arrangements.
