She was born Lola Gail Zugschwerdt on June 22, 1916 in Graceland Township, north of Henry, SD, the daughter of Chester and Orpha (Reiter) Zugschwerdt. She attended Graceland School and later Henry High School, graduating as the Valedictorian of her class.

On October 12, 1935, she was united in marriage to Lloyd G. "Buster" Alexander. The couple lived and farmed near Elrod. In 1979, they moved into Clark. Buster died on December 23, 2001. Lola lived in the Fay Wookey Memorial Living Center at Clark for some 8 years and currently had been in the Jenkins Living Center at Watertown for the past three years.

Lola was very much involved in the farming operation, raising hundreds of chickens at a time, tending too and raising sheep and other farm duties. She enjoyed raising a large garden and reaping the benefits of it including canning. Lola loved her flowers in the yard and flowers brought to her from her daughters. Lola will long be remembered for her love of sewing, mending and her upholstery work. She also enjoyed countless hours of crossword and word search books. Her love of family, dancing with Buster, and her beautiful smile will never be forgotten.

She was a longtime faithful member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's group.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Buster and daughter, Jeanice Rasmusson.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her daughters, Sharon (Darryl) Tonak of Clark and Judy Talsma of Sioux Falls, a son-in-law, Craig Rasmusson of Clark and sisters, Doris Coyle of Watertown and Lois (Calvin) Schoepp of Henry. She also leaves 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends
