This is my beautiful grandmother Doris "Doe" Simmons Willams. One of 13 children, parents were my Great-Grandfather Paul Simmons and my Great Grandmother Mable Simmons in this order: . Lavell, Alice, Katie, Doris, Pauline, Jimmy, Gene, Roscoe, Joyce, Lola, Marion, Virginia, and the youngest Jack.
She married Robert Williams (Grandpa Bob). Together they had seven childern: Jewel, Beverly, Barbra (Bobbi), Ronald(my daddy), Larry, Walter, Thomas. I just found out about Walter, he passed when he was a baby.
My grandma Doris passed away from breast cancer at the young age of 37. Leaving my grandpa Bob, to raise six kids on his own. He did have some help from other relatives and of course my older aunts, they had to step up and keep the family going. My grandma Doris, my namesake, to this day my father's heart is forever broken, his last memories of his mama was at the hospital not being allowed in to say goodbye to his beloved mama, because he was only 9 or 10 (he didn't fit the age requirement). I found out in those days hospitals were strict on vistation protocols, no execeptions were made. I always have hope in my heart that someday there will be a cure for breast cancer. Every year I run 5k ~Susan G. Komen~ Race For The Cure in honor of my beautiful grandma Doris "Doe" Simmons Williams...I run for all whose lives have been forever changed by this dreadful disease breast cancer. R.I.P. Grandma~Gone 2 Soon~
