Joseph John Jammaer was the adopted son of Louis John Jammaer (Josephus Ludovicus Janmaert - Flemish birth name)(aka Joseph Louis Jammaer) and Harriet Scallan. He was born March 7, 1920 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas of unknown parents. He died February 12, 2007 in Sugar Land, Fort Bend County, Texas and was buried February 15, 2007.

Jammaer, Joseph J. Joseph J. "Mr. J." Jammaer was born on March 7, 1920, in San Antonio. Joe was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War and taught school in East Baton Rouge Parish for 35 years. Joe was a highly decorated officer in the 82nd Airborne Division and was a commander in the parachute engineering unit. He was a Purple Heart recipient and also received the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four bronze stars. Joe completed a bachelor of arts and a bachelor of science in engineering, a master of arts in mathematics, and a master of arts in education from LSU. Joseph J. Jammaer passed away on Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, in Sugar Land, Texas, at the age of 86. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Margaret "Peggy" Martinelli, a native of Grimsby, England; daughter, Theresa Philley and husband Jack; granddaughters, Laura Dixon and husband David, Belinda Bailey and husband Cope, and Suzanne Moore and husband Colin; and great-grandchildren, Joseph Dixon and Elizabeth Dixon. A chapel service will be held at Houston National Cemetery on Thursday, Feb. 15, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hospice Association of the donor's choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Schmidt Funeral Home, 1508 East Ave., Katy, TX 77493, phone (281) 391-2424.
