Joe "JoJo" Alexander McMahan, 83, of Front Royal died Thursday at his home.
Services will be private.
Mr. McMahan was born May 27, 1925 in South Carolina, son of the late Claude McMahan and Josephine Cobb McMahan. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1944 to 1946. He was in Company A, 307th Airborne Engineer Battalion, and one of the first soldiers to land in Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge. He retired from C&P Telephone Company after 32 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife Elois McMahan.
Mr. McMahan is survived by a son Paul E. McMahan and his wife Wanda of Front Royal, and two granddaughters Shannon K. McMahan and Heather N. Grove both of Front Royal.

He was a simple man with a big heart who loved his family and was always there for them.
