Raymond Neal "Ray" Alexander, 80, of Pendleton, Oregon died on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, at his home.

Funeral Mass was held at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with interment at Olney Cemetery, Pendleton, Oregon.

Mr. Alexander was born Oct. 1, 1922, in Detroit, Michigan, to William Staley and Julia Minerva (Snoddy) Alexander.

He served with the Army from Nov. 5, 1942 until Feb. 14, 1946.

Mr. Alexander was employed as an air traffic controller until his retirement.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Elks Lodge and the Elks RV Camping Club.

He was preceded in death by sons, James N. Alexander and Denis R. Alexander; and a stepdaughter, Kim Marie Straube.

Burns Mortuary of Pendleton was in charge of arrangements.
