Mildred Katherine Ainsworth, 79, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2004, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation is after 12 noon today at Lakewood Funeral Home. Graveside services are 2 p.m. today in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Ainsworth was born in Alexandria, La. in 1925, and spent her younger years raised in Crystal Springs. Her parents were the late George Johnson, and Mavis Cook Johnson. She retired after 38 years of service with AT&T, and South Central Bell working in the business office and in customer service. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
Mrs. Ainsworth was a longtime resident of Jackson. She was a member of Daniel Memorial Baptist Church and served as outreach leader for the Ladies Sunday School Class.
The treasure of her life was her family. Her children said she was a kind loving and unselfish person, always putting their needs before her own. She especially enjoyed her three grandchildren making them a part of her everyday life in helping to raise them. Her husband said she was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.
She loved flowers and enjoyed working with her potted plants.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 58 years, Hubert "Buck" Ainsworth of Jackson; her son Bruce Ainsworth and his wife, Melanie of Brandon; a daughter, Gina Ainsworth Brooks, and her husband Richard also of Brandon; two sisters, Junita King, and Estelle Lamb, both of Crystal Springs; and her grandchildren, Kellie Rush, Austin Brooks and Ashley Brooks.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Daniel Memorial Baptist Church.
