Raul was the first born son and was injured early in life. He was in a wheelchair most of his life and unable to speak. It has been said it was due to being hit in the head with a rock from a sling shot. He loved going to church. He became a Naturalized American Citizen on July 30, 1982. He loved to eat hot dogs. Raul's younger brother Carlos aka Chuck went home after finding out about the death of Raul and beat his 11 year old son, as he said it was his son's fault.
His younger brother Miguel "Mike" Leyva #55046746 is buried at Riverside National Cemetery.
