Robert Franklin Peters, Sr. was a WWI veteran. He was married to Rosa Naomi Rape Peters and they had four children - Lillian Juanita, Robert Franklin, Jr., Roy Eugene and Herbert Dueon. According to family history he was the victim of a mustard gas attack during WWI while fighting in France. Though he survived, his lungs were burned badly and he spent the rest of his life in and out of Veterans hospitals. He met Rosa Naomi at a barn dance where he was a fiddle player. He was 12 yrs. older than her and when they decided to marry, her family didn't agree. Three of their four children were born in Lake City, FL. where they lived a great deal of the time because of the location of a prominent Veterans' hospital there where he receieved treatments. The only child born in Houston Co., was Roy. Robert Franklin Sr. died at the Veterans' hospital in Atlanta at the age of 43.
