JOHNIE A. BECKMAN DIES EARLY SUNDAY
Johnie Andrew Beckman of 706 Alder Ave. died early Sunday morning in a Puyallup hospital at the age of 83.
He was born in Jewel Junction, Iowa, Aug. 28, 1882, and had resided in Sumner for the past 32 years. Prior to coming here, he lived in Los Angeles for 30 years. He was a retired carpenter and life-long member of the Christian Church. He was very active in church work in Sumner until ill health the past few years forced him to limit his activities.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Kitty A. Primely of Sumner and Mrs. Edith Beyeht of Spokane; two stepdaughters; 18 nieces and nephews, including Mrs. J. C. Chapman of Sumner, and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon from the First Christian Church with Rev, Lynn Cooper officiating. Burial followed in the Sumner cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ed Leitzinger, Ira Jones, William Castle, Erwin Steele, Earl Atterberry, and Ed Wright.
Arrangements were made by Powers, Wrigley-Clements Mortuary.
