Dorothy Ikner Flowers, a retired state employee, died Thursday, December 17, 2009, at a hospital in Monroeville. She was 80.

Mrs. Flowers, a native of Monroe County, was a resident of Excel.

She had worked with the welfare department for 20 years and also worked in the tax collector's department and the revenue department.

Survivors include two sons, John R. Flowers of Monroeville and Bobby Drew of Excel; one brother, James Inker of Spanish Fort; three sisters, Shirley Bell of Camden, Maybelle Perry of Daphne and Marilyn Hamner of Mobile; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home in Frisco City today from 1 p.m. until the 3 p.m. graveside service in Monroe Chapel Cemetery in Frisco City.

Memorials may be made to the Monroe Health Foundation Cancer Treatment Fund of the Southwest Alabama Community Cancer Center.
