Mr. Acker was a longtime resident of Kiln, MS and a member of First Baptist Church, Kiln, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillie and Carter Acker; brothers, Emmitt, Roland, Earl, Hayward, Alexander; sisters, Gladys Galloway, Carrie Mae Riley, Viola Powell, Ethel Thompson, Daisy Wallace and stepdaughter, Vanessa Hill.
Mr. Acker is survived by his wife, Ester Acker; five children, Julie Martin, Connie Acker, Elva Brown, Eliska Acker, Bryan Acker all of Houston, TX; step-children, Christine (Stephen) Narcisse, Slidell, LA, Debra Acker, New Orleans, Kevin (Debra) Hill, Pearlington, MS, Moses (Shirley) Hill, Jr., Hattiesburg, MS; one sister, Eugenia (John Edward) Williams, NY, NY; 16 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; many relatives and friends.
Funeral: 11 a.m., Saturday, January 22, 2011, First Baptist Church of Kiln, with a visitation one hour prior to services. Interment: First Baptist Church Cemetery.
