Alexander's first wife, Lera, died in childbirth in 1926. He married Mable E. Wilson in 1927 and was the father of AH Jr and Marla McLeod (Driver). Alexander was the son of John Daniel McLeod and Florence Isabelle Kendall. His grandchildren are David Lyle McLeod, John Dennis McLeod and Jonathan Lee Driver. Two more grandchildren arrived over the years after his death: Bethanie Alexa Driver Frommherz in 1981 and Barry Brandon Daniel Barrone in 1987. Greatgrandchildren came beginning with Nicholas McLeod in 1982, Daniel Morgan Driver in 1991, Ashley Mariah Driver Frommherz in 1998 and Alex McLeod Driver in 1999.
