CARL ANDERSON IS DEAD
A Good Man and Well Known to Ogden People
Carl Anderson, the well known contractor, painter and decorator, and for the last two years instructor in drawing in the public schools, died Sunday night at nine o'clock, after an illness lasting about three weeks. The disease which carried him away was typhoid fever, and it was a hard fought battle with death, every means known being employed to prolong his life. The fever was broken about a week ago, but on Wednesday he suffered a relapse, and was too weak to rally from it. Sunday afternoon he took nourishment and slept about an hour, waking much weaker, and falling into a stupor after which he never regained consciousness.
Carl Anderson was born in Akerhause, Norway, July 9, 1856, and came to this country, locating in Coalville in 1871. He lived in Coalville eight years, and was sent from there to the Sandwich Islands on a mission, where he remained four years.
On his return to Utah in 1882 he located in Ogden and has since lived here. His life has been one of uprightness and integrity and his friends are innumerable. He worked at his trade of painting and decorating, and had a great deal of contract work; but he was a born artist, and eventually became connected with the public schools as instructor in drawing. All his scholars mourn his loss. He was a kind and loving husband and father and leaves a sorrow-stricken wife and six children, two boys and four girls, the eldest being a son of 17 years, and the youngest a six month-old babe, to mourn his loss.
Carl Anderson was one of a family of four brothers and two sisters, all of whom, together with his father and mother, live in Utah.
The funeral will be held Wednesday from the Tabernacle at 2 o'clock.
