Parents of Moses Knighton (M.K.) Hollis (our Great-Great-Grandfather)were Isaac Knighton Hollis-B-11-30-1789 and D- 02-05-1886 and Elizabeth Hughes B-09-03-1796 and D-before 1886. Moses' 1st marriage was to Martha Louise "Clemme" Heath 10-16-1851, Chambers Co. Al. There were (8) children in this marriage. #1-James H.(b.1862); '#2-Sarah (b.1863); 3-Nancy (b.-1865):#4-George (b.-1865)(twins);(#5-Martha L.(b-1867); #6-Emma L. (b-1869); #7-Julie Ann(b-1871); #8 Andrew J.(b-1872) . At age 70,his 2nd marriage was to Elizabeth Jane Pepper Phillips on 08-13-1899 in Randolph Co. Alabama. There were no children in this 2nd marriage. Moses Hollis enlisted in the Civil War May 10, 1862 in Loachapoka, Al. as a "Private" and was in the Infantry, 47th Al. Regiment, Co. H. He was wounded at the Battle of Cedar Run in Virginia on Aug. 9, 1862. He was wounded in this battle and lost his left leg at 34 years old. He filed for "application of an artificial limb" on April 26, 1867. He also filed application for "relief" on June 2, 1879. Moses Hollis died in 1905 at the age of 77 years old.
