Former Billings Man Killed in Homestake Mining Accident
Lead, S.D., Nov. 12 - (AP) - Robert Q. Abarr, 21, Homestake gold mine employe, was killed Friday night when a rock weighing a ton fell on him. Abarr, formerly of Billings, Mont., was working at the 3,500-foot level in the mine.
Mr. Abarr was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Abarr, who are ranchers south of Hardin. He was born in Billings and attended Billings schools until the family moved to Hardin about five years ago.
Recently he served with the Unites States army in the far east.
Survivors include the parents, two brothers, Donald and Harley, and an uncle, J.E. Abarr of Billings.
