Mr. Floyd U. "Red" Atkinson, Jr., age 64 of Stockbridge, formerly of Soperton died Thursday, November 1, 2012.
Mr. Atkinson was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Atkinson, Sr. and his son, William Henry Atkinson. He served four years in the US Navy aboard the USS Enterprise during the Vietnam War and was manager of Legacy Ford Body Shop in McDonough. He was of the Advent Christian faith and attended Locust Grove United Methodist Church. He enjoyed restoring old tractors and trucks.
Survivors include his wife, Lexie Lumley Atkinson; his daughter, Erin (Ben) Floyd, Hampton; his mother, Daisy Atkinson, Jackson; his brothers, Gerald (Lee) Atkinson, Newnan and Jerry (Marston) Atkinson, McDonough.
Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Monday, November 5 with Mr. Gene Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Zaidee Advent Christian Church Cemetery, Treutlen County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
