Maria is buried in a farm cemetery near Detmold, MO. There are 40 other souls buried in this forgotten cemetery. Maria's oldest children Johann Louis, Heinrich (Henry), Christ and Louise Rohlfing immigrated in about 1858. Maria remained behind until the death of her husband in 1870 in Minden Germany. Christ Rohlfing, who like his siblings is now a US citizen, gets a passport in 1871 to go to Germany and bring his mother and youngest sister to the Franklin County Missouri area, to be reunited with the rest of the family. Maria will live the remainder of her life between the homes of her daughters, Louise Rohlfing Vogt and Carolina Rohlfing Panhorst. Maria died at age 72, which is noted on her gravestone.
It is noted that there are a number of the Panhorst family buried in this same cemetery, Maria's youngest daughter having married into the Panhorst family might explain why her interrment was at Detmold not with other Rohlfing family members.
