John Creamer Bright was the son of John Franklin Bright and Anna Caroline Creamer Bright. He was born on the family farm which he farmed all of his life.
The farm had been settled from virgin forest land by his grandfather, Lorenzo Dow Bright, at least as early as 1843.
In 1988, John was awarded the Indiana Homestead Award as having a family farm in existence from at least 1851. He and his brother, Walter, attend a one room school in Molly's Run close to the farm.
He married Clara Viola Mellick (27023007) Sept. 26, 1908 in Yankton, South Dakota where he had gone to work for the summer. They returned to the Indiana farm and had seven children.
He was a good father, a hard worker, a man who told great stories and had a wonderful sense of humor.
His heritage lives on in his children.
