|Birth: ||Feb. 28, 1928|
Boddie, Mattye Mattye Olivia Byrd Dwiggins Boddie was born in Tallassee, Alabama on February 28, 1928. Her parents were Marvin Byrd and Minnie Anderson. She was raised by her maternal grandparents Oliver and Fannie Anderson. It was Oliver Anderson who taught her all about love, kindness, tolerance, helpfulness and forgiveness. She spent her whole life trying to live up to those ideals. She loved unconditionally and forgave with all of her heart. She was a graduate of Tuskegee Institute, Alabama and was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority since 1950. Years later she became the assistant Dean of Admissions at Tuskegee Institute. Later, she became the President of the largest Officers Wives Clubs in the USAF at Randolph AFB, TX. She leaves to mourn; her husband and companion for 50 years Brigadier General USAF Retired J Timothy Boddie Jr., and their sons; Horace, Roy, William Dwiggins, and Benjamin Boddie, four grand-children; Roy, Jr., Alexandria, Timothy William, and Austin Dwiggins. Her fourth son, Tim Boddie III predeceased her on November 12, 2005. She was a sophist who traveled the world with her husband and made numerous friends who all loved her not only for her innate beauty, but also her gorgeous smile, lovely personality and her faith in God. She was an excellent chef and everyone who visited her home never forgot the sumptuous meal that she would prepare on a moment's notice. We will always feel cheated that she was taken from us, yet we must learn to be grateful that she came at all. We will all miss her, but we know she is at peace, without pain, and has become an Angel for the Almighty. Services were held at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 11 AM.
