Passed away Sunday morning, October 28, 2007 at his home. Don was born August 17, 1936, in Paw Paw, the son of the late Benjamin and Frances (Bradley) Ampey. Don was a graduate of Paw Paw High School and was employed by Paw Paw Plating as a buffer until he started his own business. Don devoted many years to coaching and umpiring Community baseball. On February 6, 1959 in Paw Paw, Don was united in marriage to Linda R. Coates, who survives. Also surviving are five children, Patty Gipson, Don (Bonnie) Ampey Jr., Franny Anderson, Rick Ampey and Rob (Tarey) Ampey, all of Paw Paw; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Joyce Ampey, Sherry Smith, Beverly Younger and Carol Woody, all of Kalamazoo; many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Thursday 5-7 PM at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
