John Sidney Adams, 92, Route 4, Robinson, died Monday June 21, 2010 at Crawford Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Martin Township, Sept. 25, 1917, the oldest son of John Q. Adams and Gussie Clark Adams. He married Leona (Paden) on June 27, 1948, and she survives.

John, known to family and neighbors as "Sid", attended Mr. Pleasant Grade School, Robinson High School, and earned degrees at Eastern Illinois University, University of Missouri, and Indiana State. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corp in Europe during WW II. Mr. Adams was a teacher at Palestine High School for many years. He also did farming, electrical work, and carpentry. He raised and sold tomatoes and Christmas trees. A member of Zion United Methodist Church, Sid loved to study his Bible and to listen to inspirational music.

Survivors include his wife Leona, two daughters: Jane and Dick Drake, Nancy and Tony Carter of Robinson, and a son, Scott Adams of Plano, Texas, four grandchildren Tracy and Mike Hargis, Joel Carter, Brady and Talesa Carter, and Adam and Melissa Carter all of Robinson. He also had two step-grandchildren James Drake, Omaha, Stacy Drake-Gibbons, Edwardsville. He had five great-grandchildren Lillie and Mia Hargis, Claire Carter, and Aubrianna and Austin Carter.

John Sidney Adams was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Crum and Bouchie Reinbold, and three brothers Daniel Adams, William Adams, and Grant Adams.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 24, and the funeral service is at 10:30 Friday morning, June 25 at Pulliam Funeral Home Robinson. Burial will be in the Richart Cemetery, south of Zion Church. Honorariums may be made to Red Bird Mission or to Zion United Methodist Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.
