The youngest of 8 children born to Hiram Compton Brock and Florence Rachel Cox. Only four of those children lived through childhood. Chester had no middle name, only the letter 'A.' on his birth certificate. He was supposed to be named after the President of the United States, Chester Allen, but the full name was never added to his record, and he never went by anything but Chester A.
He married Lovey May Ligon on April, 26, 1912 in Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri.
They set out for South Dakota to settle a Homestead in Weta, Jackson County.
Chester was a School Teacher for a time, and also a Post Master in Weta.
They returned to Milton, Pike Co., Illinois to be near family after their first two children were born. They later moved to Stillwater, Washington, Minnesota to run a Dairy Farm. After a few years the entire Brock clan moved out to Santa Rosa, Sonoma, Northern California to work in the chicken farming industry. In the early 1940s they moved down to Los Angeles area where they purchased and ran a grocery store, Brock's Market, in Inglewood. Later they headed up to Crestline, in San Bernardino County, to run a Stable. Chester was very entrepreneurial, having started successful businesses in many different fields. Following Lovey's death in 1949 he moved up to the Bay area, later marrying May Varney. He lived out his final years in Santa Cruz, California.
