H.P. Jacobs was born 8 Dec. 1855 in Crittenden Co. He was the 12th and last child of B.H. and Mary Jacobs' family. At the age of 16 at the annual camp meeting of Piney Fork C.P. church, on 10 August 1872, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and the next day united with the church. On 11 Sep 1880 he was elected and ordained a ruling Elder and appointed Clerk and Treasurer of the church. On 5 Oct 1892 Princeton Presbytery granted a petition to certain members of Piney Fork Church, living near Crayne, KY, to build and organize a C.P. church and Mr. Jacobs was a charter member. On 27 Aug 1904, having made preparations to emigrate to Yakima Co., WA, he tendered his resignation as clerk and treasurer of Piney Fork church.
In Crittenden Co on 5 Jan 1881, he was united in marriage to Miss L.E. Hill. To this union were born 10 children, 3 boys and 7 girls. One child, Clyde, age 2 months, died in KY. The family came to Yakima Co, WA 20 Sep 1904.
Albert and Anna having gone to their rewards, he leaves a devoted wife and daughters, Mrs McDonald of Zillah, WA; Mrs. Snyder, Mrs. Kauffman and Mrs. Henle of Toppenish, WA; C.A. Jacobs of CA; Reed A. and Marie Jacobs with their mother at her home.
He also leaves 16 grandchildren, one brother, S.D. Jacobs near Buena.
He passed peacefully away 9 Sept 1925 at his home in Toppenish, WA.
Pallbearers were W.O. Woodall, J.H. Young, J.P. McCaslin, J.F. Crayne, P.M. Woodall, and Ollie Martin, all former Kentuckians. Interment was in the family plot in the Zillah Cemetery.
