Jasper Bell Brown, son of Samuel and Hila Brown was born in Mercer Co, Mo. December 9, 1848 and died at his home January 15, 1917 at 7:15 o'clock at the age of 68 years, one month and 6 days after an illness of several months of paralysis.
He was married to Sarah E. Rector in 1869 and to this union was born 8 children. The oldest, a daughter, having gone on before. He leaves to mourn, his wife and seven shiclren, 29 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He united with the M.E. Church at the age of 21 years. The funeral was held the day of January 16 at Salem Church at 1 o'clock conducted by Rev. E.E. McKeithen, pastor of the M.E. Church of Spichard and the remains were laid to rest in the Salem Cemetery near Mill Grove.

Jacob was also known as Jasper and Jake.
