FORD, Ella Mae beloved mother and grandmother, age 82, formerly of Dayton, peacefully slipped away to Heaven September 17, 2011 in Birmingham, AL. She was born May 28, 1929 in Birmingham, AL where she attended Lewisburg High School. In December of 1948 Ella married the love of her life George Ford and they relocated to Dayton, OH where she worked for the Community Blood Bank and the Jefferson Township School District. For over 50 years, Ella was an active member of the choir, Deaconess Board, and many other auxiliaries at Mt. Olive Baptist church under Rev. D.W. McFarland. Later, Ella united with New Birth Missionary Baptist Church under Rev. Morris Goggins. In the summer of 2009 Ella relocated back to Birmingham, where she joined Rushing Springs Baptist Church under Rev. James Wright. She was preceded in death by her parents Eli and Clara Brown and stepmother Deola Boyd; her husband of over 60 years Deacon George Ford Sr.; 4 sisters and 6 brothers. She is survived by 4 sons: George Ford Jr., Rev. Ronald Ford both of Dayton, OH, Wendell Ford Sr. of Toledo, OH and Leslie (Beverly) Ford of Birmingham, AL; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many special friends including Mr. & Mrs. Lamar Lucas and Rhonda Morris. Services will be held Friday, 11AM at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 502 Pontiac St. Rev. Carlton Williams, Pastor. Pastor Arthur Bell of True Vine Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Rev. Ronald Ford Associate Minister of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church eulogizing. Viewing Friday 9-11AM. Family will receive friends 10-11AM. Final resting place Dayton National Cemetery.
