Van was son of Cyrus William Gold and Annie Alazana Peck Gold. He married Thelma Lucille Gruber on September 3, 1938 in Panama, where they lived until after WWII. 1944-1953 they lived in Salt Lake City, Utah; moving in 1953 to Phoenix, Arizona.
Van was a Life Insurance Salesman with Occidental Life Insurance Co. of California, with the General Agency for all of Arizona in Phoenix.
Van & Thelma were always active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Van served in the Swiss-German Mission for the LDS Church 1931-33, and always loved the German language and the people.
Their children are: Linda Jackson (Malan), Carol Curtis (James), Bill Gold (Sharon), Brenda McGee (Skip), Marsha Allen (David), and Tami Ruybal (Rudy).
Van was a great fisherman, hunter, golfer and an avid gardener. He loved and provided for his family.
Survivors include his wife, children, and siblings Josephine Knudsen (Alvin), Milton Gold (Linnie), Geneve Quist (Lowell), Ardella Jensen (Merton), Joel Gold (Nellie), Wayne Gold (Helen), Stan Gold (Lynn), Gladys VandeMerwe (John), Barbara Weight (Leon), and Lettie Foote (Len). Preceeding him in death are his parents, step-mother Edith Benfell Gold, siblings Lucile Oliphant (Arden), Vernice Rosenvall (Albert), and Cyrus Gold (Margaret).
Services were held Saturday, March 16, 1996 in the Camelback LDS Ward,, Phoenix, AZ. Interment, East Resthaven Cemetery in Phoenix.
