Services for Mrs. John Bishop January 3,. Mrs. John Bishop, formerly of Loco and Quail, died Tuesday, Dec.,30,in Chandler, Arizona. She and her husband, the late John F. Bishop, moved from Quail to Arizona in 1981.
The former Pellie Lee Gibson, she was born Sept. 30, 18, in Paris, the daughter of James F. Gibson and Pellie H. Gibson. She came to the Loco area with her family and was teaching at Loco when she and John F. Bishop were married June 20, 1925 at the parsonage of First Baptist Church in Childress. She and her husband lived at Fresno and Aberdeen, where he farmed, before moving to Quail. They continued to farm for a number of years. In each community, Mrs. Bishop was a member of the Order of The Eastern Star, and at the time of her death, the First United Methodist Church in Wellington. During WWII, when the number of teachers in this area dwindled, Mrs. Bishop came out of retirement to teach for several years in the Quail School. Mr. Bishop died in 1983.

Services were conducted at First United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3rd, with Dr. Tome Thomson, Pastor, officiating. Pallbearers were J.I. Morgan, Sam Adams, Earl Patterson, Delbet White, Marvin Blevins and Dick Campbell.
Survivors are her son, J.W. Bishop of Amarillo; two daughters, Mary Lee Waits of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Mrs. Mel Eloise Sammons and of Eatonton, Ga.; 8 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mildred Locke of Amarillo and Elizabeth Stubblefield of Plainview. She was preceded in death by two brothers, James Gibson and Bud Gibson and two sisters, Laura Shanks and Mary Reynolds.
