George U. Steadman is buried in an unmarked grave in Taylor City Cemetery, Taylor, Williamson Co TX
George was born in Lexington, Kentucky. He became an orphan by age 5 and was placed with the Shakers in Pleasant Hills Mercer Co KY. There George lived the life of a Sharker and many records have been found in their Archives of his duties which included traveling from town to town to sell the seed packets that the Shakers sold as a way to earn their money.

McCormick) left them with the Shakers never to return for them.
George married 25 Dec 1864 in Jamestown, Russell Co KY to Margaret "Maggie" Matilda McCormick born 1841 in New York, New York. George and Margaret had 3 sons before coming to Texas by 1880. In 1883 their last child, Lou Anna "Louie", was born. George and Maggie lived in Georgetown, TX before moving to Taylor, Williamson Co TX.
