She was survived by her mother Charlene Saunders Nederlander married to James M. Nederlander, the Chairman of Nederlander Organization. She was 9 years old when her mother Charlene married James Nederlander. She was also survived by Robert Nederlander, brother of James M. Nederlander.
Additionally, she was survived by her sister Kristina Gustafson Nederlander. Kristina Gustafson has worked as a real estate agent for Sotheby's International Realty in Palm Beach, Florida.
Nederlander worked from 1986-2001 as a casting director in the film industry.
She married film actor/producer Harrison Freed on September 16, 2001; they later divorced on February 10, 2004.
Tulsa World reported that according to sources including the Oklahoma state medical examiner and local law enforcement, Sharon Nederlander's death was connected to the Scientology drug rehab Narconon.
