Burial Tomorrow For Miss Bockius, Widely Known Educator Of Deaf Served Here.
Miss Beatrice Southcott Bockius, expert in the education of the deaf, died Wednesday at the home of her sister, Mrs. Clifford Elliott, Scarsdale, N.Y. After graduating from Girls High School in Philadelphia in 1908, she studied at the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, Mount Airey. and taught there for several years. later she joined the staff of the New Jersey School for the Deaf, Trenton. For a time she lived in Carteret. In 1926 she moved to Honolulu and became a teacher there. She obtained a leave of absence in Honolulu in 1935 and pursured advanced work at the Universisty of Toronto. On her return to Honolulu she was placed in charge of all audiometric tests. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at 6301 Germantown Avenue, with burial in Ivy Hill Cemetery.
